Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX– BAE Systems’ Hawk Advanced Jet Training System (AJTS) National Road Show will be featured this weekend at the headquarters of the U.S. Air Force’s Air Education and Training Command as part of the Randolph Air Force Base Open House and Air Show, October 29 and 30.
The Hawk Advance Jet Trainer (AJT) aircraft will fly on both days of the show and will be on display alongside the Hawk AJTS Demonstration Trailer.
BAE Systems is offering the Hawk AJTS, the world's most advanced, successful and proven jet training system, as a replacement for the venerable, but aging T-38 trainer as part of the U.S. Air Force’s T-X program.
The Hawk AJTS effectively integrates live and synthetic air and ground based elements to successfully train pilots for 5th generation fighters such as the F-35 Lightning II and the F-22 Raptor. It is the world’s only fully-integrated off-the-shelf system in service today. The Hawk AJTS system is uniquely tailored to meet the needs of the U.S. Air Force and will be manufactured in the United States with the involvement of a strong U.S. supply chain.
In September BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman announced an exclusive strategic partnership to compete in the USAF T-X program. BAE Systems will prime the pursuit and Northrop Grumman will serve as the manufacturing partner. Northrop Grumman is the original manufacturer of the T-38.
“We are proud to be able to demonstrate the sophisticated and integrated capabilities of the Hawk AJTS at the home of the U.S. Air Force’s Air Education and Training Command,” said Robert Wood, Vice President and lead for the BAE Systems, Inc. Hawk Advanced Jet Training System Program. “This Road Show and the Hawk AJT flight display at Randolph Air Force Base offer a unique opportunity for our team to highlight the aircraft’s in-flight and ground-based training systems while showcasing how it can deliver off-the-shelf capabilities today.”
The Hawk AJTS National Road Show features a demonstration trailer that showcases video, simulations and interactive exhibits, including a cockpit simulator, illustrating the unique features of the Hawk AJTS. It will be on display at air shows, trade shows and conferences across the country.
